Current Tools got its start in a small warehouse of less than 3,000 square feet; two decades later, Current Tools operates in a state-of-the-art 200,000-square-foot facility in Greenville, South Carolina.
At its founding in 1999, Current Tools produced just one product, a conduit bender. Now, there are more than 100 in its line, including many types of conduit benders.
The vast majority of Current Tools’ products are manufactured in Greenville.
Fewer than a half-dozen employees were on the staff back in 1999; now the staff numbers around 70, with engineers, designers and draftsmen on staff to create and manufacture the products. Many of Current Tools’ employees have remained with the company for two decades or more.
At a time when so much manufacturing has left American shores, Current Tools is keeping its work right here in the United States.
That commitment is good for business in many ways, says Current Tools founder John Scovil.
“We’re a small company, and we like it that way,” Scovil says.
